Curtain Wall Designer

Haig Building Envelope Architecture Recruitment is working with an innovative and exciting Building Envelope Contractor based in the West Midlands. This client has built up a strong reputation for delivering state of the art Façade projects across the UK. Having been established for 30 odd years, and a wealth of Façade experience, this client is now looking to push on to the next level. This year will mean that the client will increase their turnover to just over £25m and win new project wins, they are keen to recruit an experienced Façade Designer with a Curtain Wall background. This role will be incorporated in line with the new Design Office which the client has just opened.

As an experienced Façade Designer, you will be reporting directly to the Design Manager/Director and your duties will include;

  • Designing Curtain Wall and/or Cladding projects

  • Using design software’s such as AutoCAD, Solidworks or Inventor Ensuring accuracy is paramount, as well as running a smooth function of the design office

  • Liaising with Architects, Site Team and Internal design functions to meet deadlines and understand and act on design variations, when required Implementing a streamlined process, which can boost productivity

  • Be able to simplify corporate strategy and drive it consistently from a design function

  • Maintaining a high quality of design output from the team as well as having clear KPI and goals in place for the team. In addition to this, being able to monitor and take action on the KPI’ when required

  • Being able to work with construction budgets and working well with the operations team.

Taking ownership as a lead on project and design issues that may occur. The role is well developed and the ideal candidate will be joining an experienced team. Having a minimum of 3 years’ experience is preferable within façade design and being able to hit the ground running. Working autonomously and being the face of the company is important, whilst representing the company at design meetings. Working under pressure and being able to drive your own development is key. In return, the client will pay a strong base salary, with an extensive benefits package on offer.
